Longship is a third-party logistics company that manages freight 24/7. We don’t own trucks and employ drivers—and you don’t need to either. We bring responsibility and dependability to the shipping industry and shield you from problems. We manage any issue from shipping to receiving, and we track each shipment from pickup to delivery.

Position Summary:

The Dispatch Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient movement of freight, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining strong communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams. This role involves scheduling shipments, tracking loads, resolving transit issues, and optimizing routes to maximize efficiency.

Responsibilities

Ï Answer incoming calls as they arrive on the Night Dispatch queue

Ï Perform check calls as by Longship Account Executives

Ï Provide timely and efficient updates to Account Executives as they become available

Ï Use effective listening skills to collect required information and/or to identify potential conflicts

Ï Practice professional phone etiquette; provide excellent customer service to customers and carriers

Ï Troubleshoot problem loads and resolve issues pertaining to delays, accidents, pickup/delivery numbers, and paperwork questions

Ï Issue advances to carriers pertaining to unloading charges and fuel advances

Ï Maintain communication with the carrier while loads are in transit

Ï Other duties as required or assigned

Requirements or Qualifications:

● Must be able to work full time, 40 hrs per week

● Experience in logistics, transportation, or dispatch operations preferred.

● Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

● Excellent communication skills. English Level C1.

● Can work Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 6:00am EST

● Has 1 or more years of experience Customer Service or in BPO

● Proficient in using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
